Stolen Innocence

I debated whether I should post this poem–it was raw and painful to write. But if it helps one person to not feel so alone in their pain, then it is worth sharing. Statistics say that one in five girls and one in 2o boys endure child sexual abuse.  You are NOT alone.

Drained by darkness etched inside me.
Endless tears flush
the light from my eyes
As my soul clutches onto my shame

Inside you will discover
the filth of a dirty little whore.
One who enticed his touch,
but was destroyed by his attention.

See the horror that fuels cries
that wouldn’t be uttered
Find my quaint corners to go
to quiet all the pain

Stolen innocence, tainted memories
Leave me with a life spiraling out of control
Wishing to be able to drift away
