Gaze in the Mirror

I can’t make myself

Gaze in the mirror

For I am fearful of what I will know

Eyes are doors to the soul

Where no deceit can be preserved

Only truth lies within

I am terrified of being baffled

Because so much agony survives there

Imprisoned are recollections

of anguish and anger

Locked away where no one has a key

Instants that stomp out all the light

Until I can no longer see

Darkness that fires a loathing that singes my soul.
